Overview of the Nutrition and Dietetics Program at Mansfield University

Mansfield University's American Dietetic Association approved program includes specialized courses in normal nutrition, advanced nutrition, medical nutrition therapy, nutrition counseling, food service management, chemistry, and anatomy and physiology. Students have an opportunity to learn about community nutrition, nutrition counseling, food production and dietetics in a hands-on environment.

This program graduates students who are prepared  with the didactic knowledge requirements for  entry-level dietetic positions in nutrition, dietetics, food service, and health care.  It provides the foundation for graduate study or supervised practice programs.

Graduates of this program work in a variety of settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, physician's offices, community nutrition programs such as Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), sports nutrition, university dining and nutrition education programs, food service in theme parks, VA hospitals and clinics, and in private practice.

The Mansfield University Nutrition and Dietetics program is currently granted approval status by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education of the American Dietetic Association, 216 W. Jackson Blvd., Chicago, IL 60606-6995, 312/899-5400. This program provides the didactic instruction required to meet the American Dietetic Association’s Foundation Knowledge and Skills for Entry-Level Dietitians and Standards of Education.  Successful completion of program requirements allows graduates to apply for an American Dietetic Association supervised program, which leads to eligibility to write the registration examination for dietitians.
